American Style Retirement Village comes to Ireland.....
ATG, Cois Carraig Village, Limerick.
Hugely successful throughout Europe, Australia and the USA, the concept of co-housing is the ideal option for those wishing to enhance life after retirement. With co-housing, neighbourly support for an independent, active and secure lifestyle occurs naturally. This type of lifestyle offers the ideal antidote to the modern epidemics of loneliness, inactivity, financial uncertainty and security.
On a recent visit to ATG’s Cois Carraig Village in Limerick, Minister for Health, Jim
Daly said that the people of Cois Carraig had found much more than a place to
live. They had found a sense community
which he described as very special indeed.
This generation of retirees are far more discerning than previous
generations. People are looking for a more socially interactive lifestyle and
for a quality of life that was not available to retirees in Ireland to date.
Based in Limerick Cois Carraig is just 2 hours train ride form Dublin
and 15 minutes drive from Shannon airport. The village boasts beautiful 2 bedroom
homes, each with its own rear garden so privacy is guaranteed at all times.
These homes are located around a club house which is designed for daily use and
is restricted exclusively to the residents of Cois Carraig.
Testimonials from Cois Carraig's early residents....
After 4 months looking to downsize in
Dublin I was forced to look farther afield. Immediately on seeing the showhouse
I fell in love with Cois Carraig. I can say for certain there is nothing like
this in Dublin. I love my new home and my neighbours who have been so welcoming.
Moving to Cois Carraig has been one of the best decisions I have made.
We were reluctant to leave Dublin but after
reading about this senior co-housing development I was tempted to check it out.
The homes are comfortable and spacious. I really love the 9 foot high ceilings
and there is ample space for visitors to stay over. There is a great sense of
community at Cois Carraig. Limerick train station is only about 10 minutes away
and we regularly return to Dublin to meet up with family and friends. I would highly
recommend Cois Carraig.
Clarina is a lovely place and Cois Carraig
is very quiet and peaceful. The local community is very welcoming and from the
very start included us in local activities. I like that there’s a country feel
even though we are on the outskirts of the city. I love walking and nearby
Curragh Chase is a walker’s paradise.
On deciding to relocate my concerns were
location, size and cost. I was pleasantly surprised when I visited Cois Carraig.
I now live in a very modern luxury 2 bed-roomed home within a friendly and safe
community. I particularly like the Club House which provides a great
opportunity to meet and socialise with my neighbours.
ATG have made downsizing easy here in Cois
Carraig. The concept of co-housing has been achieved with beautiful spacious and
comfortable 2 bed-roomed homes. There is ample space for parking and relaxation
and a strong sense of community among the residents. The community resource
centre is a gem with weekly programmes for all ages and tastes.
